The monsoon season starts in April on the West side, i.e. Phuket. However, you can get really good deals in Phuket during this time (it is low season). Bangkok is OK, but you should just treat is as a necessary stop over. All the major sites are tourist traps and somewhat of hassle to get to and from.
bobby james Member United Kingdom (Great Britain)	# Posted: 21 Jan 2007 18:00:59 HEY Me and my cuson are allso saving up to go thailand too, but have heard many stories about the disapearance of backpackers n so on and the criminal rate there, wich is kinda offputting, s as a 1st time backpacker hoping to spend 3 years traveling there eventually goin up to australia then flying to france to see my mother for a bit then finally goin canada, i would like to know from some ones personal experience on what i should look out for in thialand, n ny other key things i will need to know , n also where is the best places to stay ....please wright back ny information would be extreamly helpfull thanx alot people Bobby James England
