Anyone been to Angkor Wat recently? Just read this article which makes it sound like a bit of a tourist hell-hole:

Any tips on avoiding the crowds - nice places to stay in Siem Reap? And how bad is the crime?!

I was in Siem Reap in Oct'04 and although the city itself has little to offer, it's well worth it to see Angkor. There is definately a tourist element and lots of people at certain spots and at the peak times of the day. While everyone else is watching the sun rise behind Angkor Wat, I visited Ta Prohm instead and enjoyed this mystical sights while virtually no one else is around. It was absolutely magical!
