I hired a harley davidson for £8 poer day in phuket in 2006 and they just took my driving license, signed a waiver which included "insurance" for the time we had the bikes. we had the most amazing time, the only time we bumped into police was when they pulled up next to us to tell us how much they liked our bike and to tell us good places to go on them! very easy mate! purcellzx9r Member london	# Posted: 26 Feb 2010 02:52:35 i was obsessed with getting a bike for travelling when i strarted 6 months ago in india im in vietnam now and finally have got one!!! basically you'll be stuck with expensive rentals in india, thailand, cambodia. i say expensive, about 4-8 US perday but the kicker is you always have to return it to the same place they wont let you have one unless you live there but.... i bought my bike in saigon/hcmc for 300 US and am making my way up to hanoi and then into laos where i will have to sell it. remember driving here is crazy with no road rules like home. we see at least one crash per day, usually bikes choosing to hit another bike to avoid a head on with an overtaking bus (might is right), and yesterday we saw a pretty gruesome fatality. i dont know if id recommend you get one if youve never ridden a clutch bike, i have a bike back home and have ridden it everyday for 6 years and it is still very difficult for me here you wont need insurance or a licence unless you crash! if you need any other help or questions contact me
