I am planning on going to Europe for the Summer of 2008. Now this is my first time Backpacking internationally. I have looked on the forums and found a great one about the expenses, gear, and what I will need for my trip. The only problem was that it was outdated, the post was from 2005. Is there anyway that someone could give me direction on what the estimated expenses are currently, what gear I should bring, and awesome places to visit would be excellent!

hay hay, depends on what and where u are thinking of visiting, travel light cos u never need as much stuff as u think you do... i travelled the central americas on a 15 litre hathersack for 8 months, t-shirts n shorts, and jeans trousers cut into shorts, food is the biggest problem when on the road, bread and cheese u can live off but pizza n pasta are the cheapies youll end up eating.
ive backpacked round europe many times as well as many self catering holidays in and around the med etc. just being out there on ya own initiative is the key to fun/good travells, travell light and dont be affriad of oppertunities, take full advantage of people and places, it'll never be the same again!
