Hi,
I and a friend (I am Australian living with a visa in France and he is Mexican living with a visa in Spain) will be spending 2 -3 months this summer travelling as cheaply as possible... I am thinking the cheapest way is to buy a used car and resell it at the end, then we are free to go where we want, stay in camps, hostels or friends places.
Does anyone know which is the best country to buy a used car? We plan on staying in Germany, Poland, latvia and other eastern countries... finding info on insurance and regulations for travelling between countries and things is not easy... so any help is appreciated.

Hello
Germany is the cheapest country to buy a car and you get special number plates if you plan on traveling around in it. Not a resident that is and you get the least hassle. If you have eastern european number plates you will get stopped a lot.
They should insure you in Germany you need it to get the number plate and when you have finished should take the car back to Germany to sell. Other countries are a nightmare.
France is very expensive to buy and insure, a lot of frogs buy cars in germany.
Good Luck
