I have found a train pass through interrail.com which covers Croatia, Bosnia, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Poland. It lasts for 16 days. There are other options on the site - its worth looking at if you haven't already. I am also looking for travel buddies and tips for places to see, if you get any others. Good luck
