I am traveling throughout europe in june with three friends and our ages are 18,18,18 and 17. I am wondering if any hostels would not take my 17 year old friend? which hostels should we stay in, and has this happned to anyone else?
I wouldn't worry about it mate. I really doubt any hostel will give you hassles regarding the age of your friend, especially since you're in a group that is 18 for the majority. I've never even come across a hostel with an 18+ age restriction actually. In short, you'll be just fine
Which countries are you planning to visit in Europe?

ok thanks..
we are planning on cologne-amsterdam-paris-rome-florence-interlaken-munich... with of course some places in between as we will be there for a month.
Awesome plan! The only thing your friend 'll have to remember is that he can't go buy marihuana in the Amsterdam coffeeshops, as you ARE required to be at least 18 for that

haha That wouldn't pose much of a problem. It's basically the same kind of system for getting your hands on alcohol in the USA: people under 21 simply make someone else buy it for them...
