Challenge your buck... But don't sacrifice the quality of your experience.

How far can your buck go?

Like most people, I initially had the impression that Hong Kong and Bangkok are the places to go when in search for great bargains. Well, it turns out that it's actually CHEAPER here in Manila! And that's considering all factors such as food, lodging, transportation, and other essentials related to getting around and hunting for bargains.

Here in Manila, you can get a big bottle of brandy for less than $1.50. You can buy a nice pair of shoes for less than $12.00. Or a very elegant handcrafted handbag for less than $8.00. You can get a relaxing full-body massage for less than $6.00. You can dine in a classy restaurant as a group for less than $30.00. You can get drunk and dance like crazy in a nightclub for less than $8.00. You can get a cool mobile phone for less than $50.00. You can drink fresh coconut juice straight from the shell for less than $0.30. The list goes on.

There are lots of nearby beaches and resorts. There are lots of tours available, too. Lots of culturally significant places to visit, wherein you can see the fusion of Asian and Western cultures. And the nice thing is that almost all Filipinos can understand and speak the English language, so communication would not be a problem.

So when you travel in Southeast Asia, consider including Manila, Philippines in your itinerary.

If you ever plan to drop by my city, please consider my newly-started hostel. I recently began accepting travelers in my place. All amenities in, including broadband internet, phone, air-conditioning, cable TV, the use of kitchen equipment, etc. All for only $14.00!
