need a car. Help!

i am looking to buy a car in Cairns so i can drive down to Sydney. Have only a budget of about $1200. would like a car with reg at least up until late December. Have looked in all the usual spots in Cairns, the noticeboards, the car market etc. I hear there is a car auction somewhere in Cairns. Can anyone help me? Do you know of anyone selling a car in Cairns?
