Hello,
I just found this site while researching online and thought, why not post a question? My wife and I are still in school, but we are slipping... complete and utter apathy. We just needed a break. SO, we thought it'd be best to just drop everything and fly to England. We're going to go throughout the UK and over to Western Europe and then Southern and Eastern Europe. We do have some friends in the Netherlands, England, Germany, and Italy, with whom we can stay for a few weeks at a time, but the rest of the countries...who know's? Do you think $10000 will be enough? What are the best tips you could give me? I've been to Europe numerous times, but I've never backpacked. Thanks for your help and I await your response.
Best regards,
Ryan

Hi Ryan,
I think you'll be fine! I'm backpacking for two months soon and I'm bringing $5000 Canadian. Everyone on this site has been very reasuring that I'll be fine. You also have people you can stay with....I don't know anyone! A good book that's helped me is "First Time Europe". It gives a good breakdown of budget for each country (hostel, food, transportation, leisure, etc.) There's also great tips about saving money on the little things along the way. Check it out.
