I'M TRAVELLING FOR 6 MONTHS AND REALLY NEED TO GET SOME SORT OF STUDENT ID TO GET REDUCTIONS IN INDIA, SE ASIA, S AMERICA ( ESPECIALLY THE INCA TRAIL) AND CENTRAL AMERICA.
I AM ON A MANDITORY YEAR OUT FROM COLLEGE, WE HAVE TO GAIN EXPERIENCE IN AN ARCHITECTURAL PRACTICE. I AM RETURNING TO COMPLETE THE LAST TWO YEARS OF MY FIVE YEAR COURSE IN SEPTEMBER. I HAVE A LETTER FROM THE COLLEGE TO SAY THIS.
HOWEVER, USIT HAVE SAID I CANNOT GET AN ISIC CARD, WHICH OFFERS BETTER REDUCTIONS THEN THE IYTC/UNDER 26 CARD BECAUSE I'M NOT REGISTERED WITH A COLLEGE. CAN ANYONE SUGGEST OTHER CARDS? WILL OUT OF DATE CARDS DO THE JOB? OR IS THERE ANY OTHER WAY TO GET STUDENT ID?

I remember when I was travelling through Egypt there were also loads of discounts if you had an Isic card: for musea, train tickets, entry to the temples... I didnt have one either, but it turned out that you could easily get one in Cairo. Getting an Isic card was basically the first thing to do for all low budget travellers who just arrived in Egypt. At the desk they ask you what you study; you tell them you study something (doesnt matter what you tell them); andyou get the card for like a few euros without the need of any proof of being a student. Easy peasy! :D

Any place in Central or South America where it's easy to get an Isic card?
It is even beneficial to have one while travelling there?

Hmm, good question. Very curious about this myself too. Anyone here who's already visited Central/South America? Does the ISIC card give a lot of discounts there?
By the way, emberjeunesse, you can get the ISIC card in your own country, or anywhere else actually, as long as you can prove in some way that you're a student. There's a list of all offices at http://www.isic.org/sisp/index.htm?fx=isic.offices

Hi.. i actually lives in South America (exactly in Argentina), I own an ISIC student card, and i really dont think this cards have a real use here.
Argentina is as cheap as a country can be, so you dont need anything to save some money.
i hope this can help someone.
