I have a Northface Windypass sleeping bag that is rated to 0 degrees. on my last 2 trips it has kept me warm, but not like it use to. I have been looking at summer bags recently so I do not have to carry the 0 degree year round, so one is in the budget. I would like to stay less than 100 bucks though. Tommy

kid38 Member	# Posted: 10 Jan 2008 05:43:32 you might be overdoing it with another sleeping bag. there are sleeping bag liners that can add up to (kinda guessing, cant quite remember exactly) 20 degrees. made out of diff. materials...cotton, silk, and flanel, etc. not only with a liner increase your warmth it will help keep your bag clean! i use a silk liner cuz of the weight. you could even use the liner during warmer trips. also, what are you wearing while sleeping. wearing the same clothes, even underwear, that you hike in during the night will make you colder. i suggest changing clothes for the night or even sleeping nude. it may sound crazy but it does help. i usually sleep in a pair of clean shorts, clean socks, and a stocking cap. another thing that you could do, depending on how much room you have in your sleeping bag, is to stuff some extra clothes at the bottom. you could even put some hot water in a bottle and sleep with that in your bag. i have never tried it but many people have mentioned it. lastly, you def. want some sort of pad under you. i learned the hard way with that one.
