hi guys,

I going traveling in thailand at the end of the year. I'll be using a pack that does not zip closed but instead user clips and fastners. my concren is that this makes it very hard to lock and I am concerned that the contents can be tampered with, mainly when it is out of my control.

My question is does anyone know of anyway or product I can use to secure my pack.

Thanks in advance!!

hi there Sdc

between the clip and the material holding the clip in place is there a gap if so you use cable ties or a lock and chain to secure your bag when the clips are locked in place try it out and see . let me know if this works or not

I'm quite interested: has anyone ever tried the PacSafe backpack cover? Personally I would never ever use anything like that. First of all, it weighs a pound and a half (alright, I'm a bit of a nag when it comes to weight, I like it as light as possible). And on top of that, the steel cover attracts a lot of attention, it makes your backpack look as if you're carrying bars of gold in it...

I tend to agree, I am not thrilled about the weight, but really the alternative is that or nothing. Most "backpacks" cannot be locked in a any meaningful way. But put yourself in the mind of a criminal for a second, (and studies back this up), is a theif going to spend the extra time and risk trying to get at a locked backpack or go for the easy target. Burglary is at the utmost about speed...so if you can use something that will slow the theif down, you (or your stuff) become less of a target.

I suppose like me, you probably keep most valuables on your person, so generally locking your backpack is not needed (you can always replace clothes, but the person did ask for something and pac-safe does offer a reasonable alternative.
