To get things started on this brand new forum, share your thoughts on this question:
What's the one thing you wouldn't want to travel without?
I say: Sunglasses!!

For me that would be suncream: the one thing that prevents you from looking like a lobster after a day of walking in the burning sun! :D

Hello all! Nice forum this is!
My favourite travel item would be: the money belt!!
I like it so much cause it allows you to carry (large amounts of) money on you totally inconspicuously, and you never have to worry about it... after all, where would you go without your pants??

Sunglasses, suncream... those can all be taken care of with proper clothing.
So for me, the one thing I can't travel without, is a bag of clothes.

Since I wouldn't have left without my clothes and basic gear, if there was one thing I'd absolutely replace if possible if lost on the road, besides money/passport/etc, would be my Swiss Army Knife-Super Tinker. I carry one even at home everywhere I go. Awesome gadgets!!! Then my sunglasses.....

Safety first: Condoms ;)
But they're usefull too!!! it holds a bucket of water!!
No, always have them with me, but never use them...
Ah, won't go without my mascot: a yellow plastic duck!!
Stands for all the waterfun I had, Traverses of cold rivers in wintertime, saving a 8 year old kid on wild river after his canoo turned over, and nude bathing at full moon,... With my duck I feel complete!!! :p

I'm new to backpacking but old to roadtripping. I can safely say that anywhere wouldn't be anywhere without my contact lenses (or glasses).

P.S. Swiss Army Knives, the "Real" ones are either manufactured by Victorinox or Wenger. I own models from both companies, and the quality is about the same, though like JameZ, I favor Victorinox. They can be found for purchase at many of the travel gear websites, not to mention most places where camping gear is sold, and Walmart & Target. I own lots of knives in many different styles, and as I said earlier, I would not go anywhere without one. (Right next to the Condoms, of course.) I recently bought 7 Wenger Swiss Army Knives at Target on a store error price reduction-from 32.99 & 36.99 to $5.97. I look for mismarked and sale items everywhere_My NorthFace tent was another mismark at a outdoor gear store...only 29.99, instead of 299.99 " Eyes always alert, Ears listening, mouth shut, the brave adventurer entered the catacombs....."
