Ok my plan is to go live on a desert island in the phillapines for 6months to a year, if u dont know the phillapines have over 7000 islands and 60% are uninhabited. Sound like a plan?
Living off the land and the oceon. if was to buy a 2 man kayak could run own supply's to the island, water, rice, fishing gear, batterys for the ipod.
If u dont know the visa regs then check out the government website but for most westerners u can stay up to a year and can renewyour visa every 2 months at the local immigration office.
This is not a drinking holiday or a bar girl tour but is a genuine need to get the fcuk outa the uk and go do sumthing worthwhile.... ie chill!!!!!!!!!!!

I spent 4 years in thailand and am sick of the way the government are treating the tourists, ok the phills is bout 30% more expensive but if aint paying for accom or anything its pretty damn cheap. Obviously the weather can get very shit and tropical storms can kill.

Seriouse reply's only please, age race gender unimportant as long as you aint a pshyco.
Im an ex british soldier and have been all over the world with the military and as a backpacker. Drop me a line if you up for it and plan to go in march or april 08.

Not to rain on your parade but I am an Americano and have been living here in the Phils for 2.5 years. I have done a ton of rough country survival stuff in 4 countries so far.... FYI:

There are no 'desert' islands here
A Kayak isnt gonna get it cuz the seas are usually quite rough (local boats are made for such so think of those instead)
Most islands are inhabited .. even the tiny ones
The worst storms are typhoons but they still are only storms. 2006 I sat in the middle (went thru the eye) of the worst one the Phils have known in 1,000 years and it was only an interesting storm to me. Sat on the shore and loved mother nature. Highest wind was only 85 mph. Hurricanes of the Caribbean start at 93 mph and blow you off your feet at about 110 and yes I have done those too.

BTW: Ipods on the shores of Philippines usually only last about 3 weeks tops..... the salt air will corode the best electronics. Best stay high and VERY dry (IE: firs at night and lots of siplock bags.... still you may lose that Ipod!)

Hi James,

i was planning to go to thailand but if your getting people to go to the philippines and go for the 'Beach' lifestyle (leonardo di caprio film) thing then i would definately be up for that. looking at the comments made by our american friend above it might not pan out the way you plan but at the end of the day why not see for ourselves.
i would be up for going near the end of april as dont know what to to as a career and would love to leave the country for a while and get things into perspective.

i look forward to hearing from you soon.

im up for serious adventure travel.

My idea, if any1 is serious.. Start with a little money each ...get a van/small camper van. and go through Europe, eastern europe and beyond.

We can earn as we go, we'll always find enuff cash to eat and get petrol( if not we'll find food...its not that hard)..sleep in the van and live the real travellers life.

email me if any1 is serious. I figure 2-4 of us would be good. We'd all meet first for a few days in the uk to make sure we were compatible for such a journey.

You Must be : chilled out, easy going and easy to be around.
not scared of adventure ( experience would help )
resourceful and prepared to take up a challenge.

a deserted island in the Philippines may be a bit hard to find these days. however, if you wanna live the beach life, you may want to try going to Siargao island. It's an isolate surf spot but it's pretty close to what you've mentioned in your post. I'm planning to go there myself around September.
