Hi Folks.
Plan on travelling to Oz in mid January 2007.
Plan to travel via Singapore for a few days, then onto Melbourne for 3 months. Then to Sydney for approx 7/8 months. Plan alot of excursions from each destination.
If anyone would like to travel with me, let me know.
I'm a 24 yr old guy from Dublin, Ireland.
Cheers.

Hi,
My name is craig (20 from scotland). I also plan travelling to australia in jan 07. I will travel to sydney and return from brisbane. I noticed you are flying to and returning from a different airport aswell. Can you tell me whether your flight worked out much more expensive because of this as I have not booked my flight yet due to me still trying to work out what my best travel route would be. Also can you tell me why you have choosen singapore as your stopover?
Thankyou
Craig

Hey Craig -
Reasoning behind my route is -
I have heard from mates who have travelled all over Oz, that its best to start in somewhere other than Sydney because Sydney is so good that you will more than likely stay there for the duration of your yr out.
So I plan to head to Melbourne first and do some of the excursions from there, and then book an internal flight (which I heard are very cheap if you use the right airline in Oz) and fly to Sydney.
From Sydney I will do as I plan on doing in Melbourne, travel from Sydney, but use Sydney as my base.
Heading via Singapore because I just want to see a part of Asia, its just a stop-over for 3 nights or so. I don't think I'd like to settle in Asia for any long periods.
My flight is working out very cheap, approx €1000 for my flights.
My route works out -
Dublin - Frankfurt (connection) - Singapore (3 night stopover) - Melbourne (book my own internal flight to -) Sydney - Amsterdam - Dublin
Are you looking for a travel buddy Craig also?

Hi David.
Thanks for replying. Sounds like a good plan. Which airline you flying with? I'm thingking of going with qantas, they have a good selection of stopover destinations. I fancy doing singapore on the way there and bangkok on the way back. found a good looking hostel in singapore called 'betel box backpackers hostel', great reviews and seems to be good overall. The hotels on offer in bangkok are incredible for the money, looking at about £15 per night for luxury. I would also like some one to travel with as it looks as if I will be heading on my own.
Cheers

Hey Craig -
Cheers for the msg.
I plan on flying with Quantas or Singapore Airlines. I was thinking the exact same, singapore on the way over and bangkok on the way back. That betel Box hostel looks kool. I'm thinking of staying in a hotel though in singapore as they're so cheap, it'd be a shame to turn them down!
Are your travel dates set in stone? I'm thinking sometime in January 07. Do you use msn? If you do, add me -
