If you're fruit picking on a working holiday visa (being from the UK), then you can apply for a 2nd year long holidaymaker visa. So you can spend up to 2 years in Australia as long as you do fruit picking for at least 3 months on your first working holiday visa (and have the proof). You need a different application form for the 2nd visa - details at www.immi.gov.au

Hi Ricey

Im a 22 year old female from Scotland, planning going to Australia early December, and doing similar to yourself! want to work my way round, fruit picking, farmwork etc. Same as you dont have a plan but maybe start in either Sydney or brisbane.

Have you booked thru a company or going it alone? i like the sound of the group flights etc with bunac type organsitations but it seems like such an expense. its so daunting travelling alone tho isnt it?!

if you want to chat you can email me at ekesterton@hotmail.com

Hi

I've been reading these posts with interest. Backpacking around Oz is something I've been thinking about for a while now, but I never knew where to get info from. Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Does age make a diffrence to visas etc? I'm 19, will be 20 in april next year.

you can get a a working holiday visa if you have a british passport and are between the age of 18-30.you need to take 1500 spending money but apparently they rarely check you have it.i applied for mine last night online and i got my confirmation today-cost 80 squid. http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/visiting_whm.htm

i got this link of this website on the oz section-its pretty good- http://www.pickingjobs.com/

this site has quite a bit about oz but the best part tells ya how to set up a bank account in oz before you go
http://www.backpackaround.com.au/money_banking_tax.html

hope it helps ya decide to go mate.i go in 5 weeks-cant wait-its gona be well mint!!

if you beliebe in paradise then there is nowhere else to go

Hey!

Thanks for the info. Can't do it this year, but I'm really up for it next!

Have you decided when you're going?
