Hi guys,

I'm a 25 year old Swedish girl (living in Dublin, Ireland) who is heading to Borneo, Sabah on the 20th of July. I'll be there for one month (until the 20th of August).

I'm travelling on my own. The first couple of days I have one person to meet up with but then she's heading home so I really want to try and find someone to go on some excurtions with.

I have booked the trip but I haven't booked a hostel or any adventures yet. I heard good things about Uncle Tan who arrange djungle trekks and also I want to climb Mount Kinabalu. I want to chill a bit on the beach obviously and go snorkeling and stuff like that too.

Is anyone going there during these dates?

Does anyone know what the usual price is to climb mt kinabalu?

I was quoted 1000 RM for the 3 day trip.

Is this the normal price?

Hi Hannah - RE: your Mt Kinabalu climb. I think RM1000 is absurd. You could get it for much less. RM750ish sounds more reasonable but RM1000 is ridiculous! I'm a 32yrs old Malaysian lady and been up to the summit of Mt Kinabalu for 4 times. When are you planning to climb the mountain? I am doing the World's Highest via ferrata on that mountain in mid sept. If you need help in trying to get your Mt climbing price lower, let me know. Email me at deblai@hotmail.com.

Hi,

Thanks. I think they raised the prices a lot in the last few years though, since there's no competition for the accomodation it's just one private company that has accomodation on the mountain, which makes the prices go up alot.
I have pre-booked this for the 26th of July and I arrive on the 21st so I'll ask around to see what other quotes I can get. The thing is that I'm joining another group (in which I have a friend) for their booking so that might be why it's a bit more expensive.
