Tilly Guest	# Posted: 19 Jan 2006 22:46:35 Hello, I've decided to go travelling, starting in Oz in April, but will be on my own, I'm a bit worried that I'll look like a bit of a billy no mates! Half of me is telling myself this is silly and a lot of people do go on there own, and meet lots of people there and make loads of friends. I'm just wanting some of the peeps who've been there n done it to put my mind at rest! Can any one help?

You get the best of both worlds I reckon - the freedom of being able to travel where & when you want, along with a high chance of meeting up with people at youth hostels. And quite often the same people at different hostels on the popular routes!
Rach Guest	# Posted: 8 Feb 2006 21:57:59 You'll be fine, once you're there you can't help but meet people and make instant friends. RobN is right, most people on the east coast do North to South of vv and so you see the same faces over and over. Quite often you can get cleaning/reception jobs in the hostels aswell in exchange for free accomodation, this helps onthe budget and gives you even more chance to meet people. Make sure you take in the Red Centre, there is nothing better than laying back on watching the stars, you won't get a clearer look at the night sky anywhere. good luck to you and enjoy!
