well i thought about doing both originally but as a rtw ticket is only valid for a year it seems a bit of a waste of the whv as wouldnt be able to spend 12 mths in oz. so now im hoping to be able to go to oz on a one way. how do people normally go about getting to oz on a whv?

I just flew direct to Sydney when I had a WHV. A lot of people stop off for a while in South East Asia. Some people go on a 1 way ticket, and then travel some more after their 12 months on a WHV (a 2nd 12 month whv can now be applied for if you do at least 3 months fruit picking on your first visa). Some people combine Aus & NZ on whv's. And I'm sure there are many other ways - TransSib train to China, down to HK and then onto Aus for example.
