Since July 1st 2009 you are required to pay tax in Australia and the country you work and then claim back the foreign tax credits. This is where all Aussies working or intending to work overseas can help…..All international workers need your help. There is a push on the Liberal website in “Here’s an Idea” for the new law to be abolished, we need 100 supporters to get the Shadow Assistant treasurer to respond (which we already have) the when we get to 500 supporters the Shadow Treasurer will respond and then 1,000 votes to get The Opposition Leader to respond to it. To become a supporter got www.liberal.org.au and on the homepage enter tax in the search field at top right of page. When page opens scroll down to Abolish the New Labour Government’s Tax Rule with regard to Foreign Exempt Income as of July '09. You enter a vote with the green “yay” button but you must enter and register your vote on the green Support This Idea button. Heres your chance to be heard so stand up and be counted and maybe we can get rid of this ridiculous tax rule.
