Nairobi hostel/guesthouse??

hi, will be trraveling to nairobi next march to get on a truck safari heading south. I wonder if someone has been there and can reccommend a guesthouse in Nairobi. We are two girls and want to be safe while in there. Also, since the truck is heading inmediately into Tanzania I would like to know if someone did this trip before, if they were able to take a Mt. Kenya Safari while in Nairobi, or Masai Mara and the lake for three days or so...
